The Stockmen of Beyondie
Uncles, hats, shirts, boots… men who could read a horizon
This new collection honours the stockmen of Beyondie Station…my uncles… whose skill with cattle was matched only by their quiet pride. They dressed the part because they were the part: wide-brim hats, sun-faded shirts, sturdy boots, and that steady stance you only get from years in the saddle.
Out on Martu Country, they moved with the land… reading tracks, wind, and temperament like a second language. The yards were their stage, the mob their chorus, and every muster a lesson in calm, courage, and craft.
These paintings carry that rhythm: ochres and iron reds, dust rising, shirts creased with work, faces set with focus and a hint of grin. Each canvas is a memory of men who kept the place running and the stories alive… family, Country, and the kind of competence you can feel across a paddock.
These are current works from my studio. As pieces are finished, some head straight to Wentworth Galleries (Brisbane & Sydney), while a small number may be available by commission. If something here speaks to you, reach out…availability shifts fast.
