Colourful Kin brings together vivid new paintings of dogs, cats, birds and other companion animals by Martu artist Reece George. Filled with warmth, humour and personality, the works begin with something many people know deeply: the love and connection we feel for animals.

For many non-Aboriginal people, pets are family. They are loved, spoken to, remembered and understood as having their own characters. This familiar relationship offers a bridge into an Aboriginal perspective in which animals are understood through relationship, presence, story and kinship.

Created especially for the Central West community, the exhibition includes original paintings at a smaller scale than many of Reece’s gallery works, making the collection more accessible to new and local collectors.

Availability and framing

All paintings are original acrylic works on stretched canvas and are ready to hang unframed. Optional black or oak floating frames can be arranged after purchase. Please allow several additional weeks for framing.
